Jure Community

We are very happy to welcome you to JURE 2011 conference in Exeter! We would like to inform you about some practical and social aspects of the conference.

1. EARLI2011 Virtual Conference Now Open
We are delighted to announce that the EARLI2011 Virtual Conference space is now open.
Please register at http://elac.ex.ac.uk/earli

Click on register in the opening page to create your own username and password, no need to remember your EARLI numbers. This is now an opportunity for those who are going to be at Exeter in August to make contact with each other, arrange meetings, prepare events and ask questions. The style of the space is influenced by FaceBook. This means you have to actively join groups to be a member of them and it is easy to set up new groups and start new discussion topics. If you have any problems contact Mike Jeffries of the Exeter Local Organising committee who created this space and will help make it work: M.J.Jeffries@exeter.ac.uk.

In May we will be running a number of 'Hot-Seat' events where leading researchers, mostly SIG-invited Key Note speakers, will lead a discussion. These are currently clearly labelled on the right of the opening screen. Please join the groups you are interested in. There are 4 events currently showing but more have been agreed and will be appearing in the next few days when all the details are confirmed. If you do not see your SIG group represented or want to start a new topic why not organise your own Hot-Seat?

These discussion spaces, and others that you create, will continue and allow for preparation of ideas before sessions as well as discussion and reflection after sessions at the conference in the flesh. We hope that this virtual space will thereby widen and deepen the learning experience of the  Exeter EARLI2011 conference, but this of course, like almost everything else in life, all depends on you and your engagement and activity -  so please register, join groups and ask questions.

2. Join the JURE community at ‘Facebook’.
We created a JURE community at Facebook. There you can meet the organizing committee and other participants beforehand. Furthermore, you can find information about informal events like  preceding the pre-registration. You can even organise informal events yourself at Facebook. Also, you will be able to find pictures and other stuff we will jointly gather during the conference. So, become a Facebook member too and accept our Facebook invitation (or search for Jure2011 on Facebook).
